Garden & Landscaping FAQs
How long have you been in business?
We started in 1995 as a family business. Nearly 30 years later, we’re still focused on quality finishes and gardens that look their best.
What areas do you service?
We’re based in Melbourne’s east and service nearby suburbs. Send us your location and we’ll confirm availability.
What services do you offer?
We do it all—landscaping, garden redesigns, turfing, paving, decking, irrigation, planting, pruning, mulching, and clean-ups.
Do you do full garden makeovers or small jobs too?
Both. From quick tidy-ups and lawn refreshes to full transformations—depending on what your property needs.
Can you prepare a garden for a home sale or auction?
Yes. We specialise in pre-sale / pre-auction presentation to boost street appeal—clean edges, fresh mulch, neat pruning, and a polished look.
Do you work with rental properties and property managers?
Yes. We handle rental clean-ups, maintenance, and upgrades that keep properties looking cared for and inspection-ready.
Can you transform a backyard into a private retreat?
Yes. We can recommend suitable plants for your space and handle planting as part of the overall landscaping work.
Do you install irrigation?
Yes. We install irrigation solutions to support healthier gardens and lawns and make ongoing care easier.
What if the job needs other trades?
We’ve got it covered. We work with trusted plumbers, electricians, concreters, painters, and tree specialists when required.
How do I get a quote?
Message us your suburb, what you need done, and your timeline (photos help too). We’ll reply with next steps and organise a site visit if needed.
Why choose Vanderhaar Landscaping?
We don’t just build gardens—we create first impressions, lasting value, and outdoor spaces people love, backed by decades of experience.
Quality & Care
1. What material are your pots made of?
Our pots are made from high‑quality, durable materials — typically a mix of glazed ceramic, terracotta and heavy‑duty plastic — chosen for strength, drainage, and durability. Each pot is inspected to ensure it meets standard for stability and non‑toxicity before sale.
2. What are the sizes of your pots?
We offer a wide range of pot sizes — from small 10 cm diameter pots for seedlings or herbs, up to large 30 cm+ or more for mature plants and indoor trees. When you visit our nursery (or shop our online catalog), each pot listing includes its actual size (diameter and height) so you can easily choose what fits your plant and space.
3. Do all pots have a drainage hole?
Yes. All our pots designed for live plants are supplied with drainage holes to prevent waterlogging and root rot. We believe proper drainage is essential for plant health, and we avoid offering pots without drainage unless explicitly labelled (e.g. decorative-only containers).
4. Are all pots sold with a matching saucer?
We include matching saucers for many of our indoor and decorative pots — especially those likely to be placed on surfaces where water runoff is a concern. If a saucer is included, it will be listed in the pot’s product details. For larger garden pots, a saucer may not always be provided, but we can help you choose an appropriate one if needed.
5. How do I install the Loop Wall Hanger?
Installing our Loop Wall Hangers is simple: use a sturdy wall anchor appropriate for your wall material (brick, plaster, concrete, etc.), then secure the hanger with screws at a suitable height. Make sure the anchor can support the pot’s weight when filled with soil. For indoor use, mount at shoulder height so plants hang freely and have proper airflow. If you need help, we can provide guidance or installation advice.
6. Are your packing materials recyclable?
Yes. We strive to use environmentally friendly packing materials whenever possible. Our packaging — including cardboard boxes, biodegradable wraps, and recycled fillers — is selected to reduce waste and environmental impact. Customers are encouraged to reuse or recycle packing materials when disposing.
Shipping & Orders
1. How can I track my order?
Once your order is dispatched, you’ll receive a confirmation email with tracking information and a link to the courier’s tracking page. From there, you can monitor delivery status and estimated arrival date.
2. Can I cancel or change my order?
Yes — you can cancel or request changes (such as address or quantity) within 24 hours of placing the order, as long as the order hasn’t been shipped. Please contact us as soon as possible via our contact form or email. Once dispatched, we can’t guarantee changes or cancellations, but we’ll do our best to help.
3. My plant or pot arrived damaged, what do I do?
We’re sorry if that happens. Please contact us within 48 hours of delivery and send a clear photo of the damage. We’ll assess and either offer a replacement or refund (depending on availability), or provide guidance for safe return if needed.
4. When will my order arrive?
Delivery times depend on your location and shipping method chosen. Typically, orders within Melbourne arrive within 2–5 business days. For interstate or remote deliveries, allow 5–10 business days. You’ll get a more precise estimate with your shipping confirmation.
5. Can I ship to multiple addresses?
Yes — if you order multiple items, you can specify different delivery addresses at checkout. Be sure to double‑check each address for accuracy when placing the order. Additional shipping fees may apply depending on location and courier requirements.
6. Shipping costs
Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on your order’s size, weight, and destination. We aim to offer fair and transparent pricing. For larger or heavier items (like big pots or multiple plants), shipping may cost more — but you’ll always see the total cost before you confirm the order.
